With spring just around the corner, there’s no better time to share this crowd-pleasing classic Tzatziki recipe. Cool, zesty, packed with fresh flavour and easy to whip up in minutes, Tzatziki (or ‘Τζατζίκι’ in Greek) is a must-have for any Greek mezze spread and the perfect compliment to warmer days and al fresco dining.
Ingredients:
400g Greek yoghurt (5-10% for creaminess)
1 whole cucumber
3-4 fresh garlic cloves
A handful of fresh dill (about 40g)
1tbsp white wine vinegar
Pinch of ground black or white pepper
Pinch of salt
2tbsp Greek extra virgin olive oil (a good one brings this dish to life!) ✨
Warm pita bread (for serving)
Method:
Wash & grate the cucumber into a bowl.
Transfer to a sieve & press out as much water as possible.
Finely chop the dill & garlic.
Mix yoghurt with grated cucumber, dill, & garlic.
Stir in a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil & season with salt & pepper.
Cover & refrigerate for at least 30 mins (can store for up to a few hours).
Stir & transfer to a serving bowl and finish with another drizzle of olive oil.
Serve with warm pita and enjoy.
